Clanadonia in the Evening Standard

We’re proud to announce that Clanadonia are playing at the “Glasgow loves St Andrew” bash starting on Friday in George Square (where else?). The band are on on the Friday night and the celebrations continue through Saturday and Sunday with Ceilidh bands, pipe bands, a kilted caricaturist (never typed those words in the same sentence before) and even Robert Bruce himself will be putting in an appearance. Enjoy.

The guys are playing at two events over the weekend, both for very different but worthy reasons.

On October 5th 2012 – the third annual Piping Hot Ball will take place in Dalziel Park, Motherwell in the grounds of Wishaw Hospital – all monies raised from this event are donated to the Maggies Cancer Care Centre.

The Sunday Mail has once again launched their campaign to find the unsung heroes and community champions of Scotland as part of the 22nd annual Great Scot awards on Saturday 6th October 2012 at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel. We are searching the length and breadth of the country to find out who the people are that make us all proud to be Scottish. This evening really is the people’s Oscars, where our winners will share the stage with the Scottish stars of entertainment, sport and business.

The band are proud and delighted to have been asked to play at the Scotland vs Australia friendly football match on Wednesday at Easter Road.

Edinburgh Festival

The guys wil be playing at various spots around Edinburgh this August at 8.15pm.

The three sites are:

Parliament Square (PS), off the High Street, Hunter Square (HS), beside the Tron Kirk and The Mound (MO) in the shadow of the art galleries.

Clanadonia are lending their support to Freak Music’s live wedding band showcase night at Edinburgh’s Jam House on the 18th July. They’ll be playing a few tunes on the night in between some of Freak’s finest Scottish wedding bands which should be interesting. It’s free, so if you are equally free on the night why not pop along and see the guys in an indoor venue for a change?

Clanadonia are proud to be headlining the Keltisch midzomer festival in Bad Nieuweschans in Holland this week. This is the 6th year this festival has been staged but it’s the first time the guys have played it. They’re due to welcome the crowds on the Friday, play a few sets around the ground on the Saturday, including play at a hand-fasting event and then closing the show on the Sunday night.

Later in the month they are playing at the Scottish Car show an in August the Edinburgh festival begins and the guys will be playing a few street events, during the month, keep an eye on this site for more news of that.

Blipfoto

One Scottish success story meets another. A few weeks ago we took a call from the office of the phenomenon that is Blipfoto. Back in November they launched a new project; Scotland – the world over. And, like everything connected with Blip it’s been a colossal success and the planned film is being previewed at Edinburgh’s New Year party and possibly Glasgow, before its proper launch. The reason for the call was they wanted to use the song Tu-Bardh for the piece.

This week the finished film was launched upon an expectant public and you can have a sneak-peek below.

The big news is that on Sunday the 5th of February at 2pm the film will be shown on the big BBC screen on Festival Square in Edinburgh and again on the side of Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow at 7pm that night. The even bigger news is Clanadonia will be performing with the film at the Edinburgh event so worth coming down, even if you’re not a Blipper. It also happily coincides with the Calcutta Cup weekend, the game being played the day before at Murrayfield, so there’s going to be a lot of (hopefully disappointed) English fans wandering about thinking we’re laying the old patriotism on a bit thick for their benefit. As if.
